First of all, please be aware of major Persona 5 Royal spoilers!! Also tw for suicidal ideation and the like.
This is a perfect plot for Sumire to get involved in - for those unaware, she spends almost an entire year believing herself to be her older sister Kasumi, who actually died in an accident shortly before the events of the game begin. She blames the accident on herself, but even before that she was depressed and miserable, seeing her sister as better and more talented than herself, always feeling like she was in her shadow. While she was "Kasumi" during the events of the game, she had a lot more confidence in herself, but later once the two parts of her personality come together, she's able to reconcile her truth and becomes a more stable individual overall.
While the game events have her go through the experience of handling this - with the help of the others - I think it will be interesting to split her in two again for the event just to see how she'll handle it! However, I'm putting myself into this very late, PLUS I want her to be able to help Akechi with his less-than-quarter-life-crisis, so based on her character growth, I'm also comfortable having her put herself back together if needed at the end of it all. It won't be too hard.
Either way, there will be two distinct people during this event:
The personality of Kasumi is friendly, cheerful, outgoing, extroverted. She is confident and forthright, while being polite, and is determined to get to the bottom of what is going on so that she can help her sister/herself. (Please note that she will recognize in this personality that she is still Sumire; I'm just calling her Kasumi for the sake of splitting them in some way.)
On the other hand, the personality of Sumire will be the harder one to deal with - and probably quite trigger-heavy. This version will be introverted, shy, and intensely depressed, with an inferiority complex the size of a planet. She will not see the point in trying to fix the situation, believing that if she disappears entirely, it will be better for both girls.
One more note: while Sumire's dreamscape self usually has her wearing her Metaverse outfit, despite the lack of her canonical ability to call her Persona in this space, neither of the girls will be wearing it!
I'm totally down for anyone interacting with both girls or either, and would love to make some new CR or strengthen CR made through the TDM with this!
Sliding in late so I have a reference point to link people to!
