Hello, I'm Eski and I've been making eyes at this place a little while. I'm waffling on the character I'd want to bring and I think my top two choices are sword boys from the series Touken Ranbu. There's some folklore/legend stuff but basically, they're spirits of swords. I can only bring one sword boy though so...
Tsurumaru Kuninaga Touken Ranbu
A sword spirit that is an actual agent of chaos and 1000+ year-old cranekin.
He presents as a friendly menace that needs to be the way that he is because he gets bored easily. He has a whimsical nature and his mood switches from genuinely friendly and casual to cool and distant to being problematically hype about bEiNg StAiNeD rEd WiTh ThE bLoOd Of HiS eNeMiEs. He's honestly a good person though and he doesn't try to hide that but he has to be difficult to hide the fact he's actually a sad, semi-immortal, white-haired anime grandpa that loves people.
The general TL;DR for my plans with him would be to explore how he does in a setting that deals heavily with emotions and dreams when... he restrains a lot of his emotions and dreams make him more uncomfortable than he'd ever want to admit. He's very supportive and encouraging when it comes to other people but when it comes to himself, he low key thinks he doesn't deserve nice things but he's also tired of his own misfortune. 🙃 He's named after the crane which is featured heavily in traditional folklore and that inspires his base personality. Leaning into his more abstract/spirit-y side is also... another way he copes with himself so like... there's potential for him to go in different ways in the setting haha.
Urashima Kotetsu Touken Ranbu
A pure cinnamon roll of a little brother that just wants everyone to get along.
He has sunny shounen energy; very friendly, supportive, pretty naive, and is just slightly off in the sense he thinks kind of fantastically about spirits, gods, legends, etc. Has an affinity for turtles and really wants to meet a dragon. Despite being a good boy, his specialty is night battles in closed spaces (see: assassinations) and while fighting is always an option, he'd rather everyone just get along peacefully. He just wants to be everyone's friend and for all of his friends to get along and be happy.
The general TL;DR for Urashima is... He's a dreamer and wears his heart on his sleeve. He's fairly well adjusted if you ignore his slightly off moments where he's kind of unnaturally naive and accepting about certain things. He's younger than Tsurumaru though and there are a lot of things he still hasn't experienced. He's named after a folk-hero and it's inspired his base personality so he'd just be really hype about adventures, exploring things, making new friends, maybe meeting a dragon/cute princess, etc.
