Because the mods are kind (or perhaps they're feeling a bit sadistic who knows), Alastor is going to be able to broadcast this month! Meaning there's going to be a few posts going up this month with his broadcasts. (Currently shooting for every Saturday afternoon/evening but we'll see!)

But you know what a radio show needs? Content.

The Alastorcast needs you! No, not that guy! You!

Got a business you want to advertise in a unique (to Reverein) way? Alastor can do an ad read live on air!

Spooky scary noctaere stuff happening somewhere that you think people should avoid? Spread it across town to anyone listening in minutes!

You want to go live on air to explain why you're the shoe-in for Flower Queen and your top opponent is a pretender to the throne? Alastor would love for you to embarrass yourself -- I mean, would love to have you on the show!

Sign-ups for specific dates along with the cut-offs for that particular broadcast will be in the comments.

As for how this is going to work, anything where Alastor is reading off something someone sent in or just things he wants to talk about will be in the main part of the post.

Interviews will be flagged "INTERVIEW" along with the participant in the subject line which Alastor will start off by introducing his guest and their reason for coming on. If it makes you more comfortable, interview questions can be determined ahead of time. The thread itself will be considered live for everyone to hear up until a tag with the subject line "END OF INTERVIEW" in which case Alastor will wrap it up and thank the interviewee for their time. Any tags afterward that point will be considered off-air.

Would Alastor volunteer a character to go on the air for an interview, even if that character wouldn't volunteer themselves?

Excellent question!

It really depends on the situation. Alastor can be a massive troll, but he takes his profession very seriously. Being the first broadcaster in Reverein comes with double the responsibility in that he is the one setting the ground rules for if someone else manages to start their own station. (Whether the radio lasts beyond this month or not is irrelevant.) He's basically going to be acting as both radio host and journalist, after all. People are going to refer to his work regardless of whether or not he's still in Reverein when someone else starts their own broadcast.

Alastor would force the issue if the person he's attempting to interview is involved in a particularly newsworthy event. Let's say that tomorrow a close acquaintance of Zelda's attempted to summon a noctaere to take over Dreambucks Cafe but was stopped by the local watch. (Weird goal, I know, but just roll with it.) As someone close to the perpetrator, Zelda might have insight into what might have caused that person to attempt such a thing, maybe even have unintentionally overlooked warning signs. In which case Alastor would be actively trying to get her to answer questions on-air or at least give a broadcasted public statement.

However, if someone was involved in a newsworthy event that had some public interest but wasn't something as dramatic as deliberately trying to bring doom down on the town, Alastor would consider sending an invitation to speak on the air or at least provide a written statement he could read off to satisfy listeners. For example, if all of the other Flower Queen candidates decided to advertise themselves but Zelda didn't, Alastor would send an invitation to Zelda to do the same to even the playing field. She would be free to accept, send a written statement, or decline altogether.

That's a wonderful explanation, thank you! I'm honestly a little surprised by Alastor's professionalism. Who knew he had some decency in there somewhere?

All said, that did give me an idea. Once she gets an idea of how all this radio stuff works, she would probably come on the air to raise public awareness about treatment for dreamotion spring allergies. I think it's quest 404? Zelda is going to be helping make the medicine for that quest, so I think she'd want to get the word out about it.

And ofc I would not be opposed if the subject of the Flower Queen candidates came up and Alastor interviewed Zelda about that. :3

Sounds good! Just sign up in one or more of the shows in the other comments and we can work out the details. Though not gonna lie, if Zelda picks the first broadcast, the subject of her being one of the candidates for Flower Queen will come up because it might look like she's trying to score votes by putting out the public service announcement. Pointing out the optics, particularly since Mammon is already working on attempting to bribe his way to Flower King. XD

LOL that would be hilarious! Although now that I look at the timing, Alastor's first show on the 9th might be after the winners of the Flower King and Queen are announced, since the festival runs ICly the 8th-10th. I asked the mods, so depending on when the winners are announced, they could talk about candidacy or react to whoever won. I'll sign Zelda up for a broadcast after I hear back.
