Character: Helga Pataki | heartatsunder Canon: Hey Arnold!, almost immediately after The Jungle Movie
About: An 11-year-old girl who copes with familial neglect by making it everybody else's problem. Actually a solid friend once you get on her good side; it's just not always clear what that good side is. Oh, and she harbours an insanely intense crush on the first boy who was nice to her. The Jungle Movie has made her slightly better about all of this.
Abilities: She's just an ordinary human girl lol... well okay, with some cartoonish exaggerations. Point is she's athletic, has been in numerous fights against kids and adults, and regularly leads and concocts elabourate plots when the situation depends on it. She also has a crazy imagination, which I fully intend to implement into Dreamotion energy! She is a highly emotional child, so I expect most of it to be impulsive with a primary focus on disguises, item conjures, and emotion-based force fields (sonic screams could very well come into play here).
PLANS General: She has been tugged away from one of the happiest moments in her life to be in some dumb dream world thing... she's going to be moody. My hope is that being on her own without her friends as a safety net - but also without the torment of her family - can get her a variety of friends who will open her up over time. Maybe be less angry to strangers? Be honest about her home life? Get a new ship? Okay, the last one is very unlikely, but we'll see in the long term, right? Dream Board: No plans for this month, but I do intend to drag her into a quest later. She's just very Emotionally Overloaded right now. Event: Helga's still kind of in denial about where she is - even when she accepts it's a dream, she thinks it's a normal dream where she's going to wake up eventually. So this event is the reality check, aggressively so, so I'm subjecting her to the leaf monsters and some of those infestations. I'll put up a top level and will be doing more tag-outs than I was for the TDM (don't worry, I'm not dropping those threads either).
CR Dreams: Like I said above, CR that can provide new perspectives would be awesome! Someone she can relate to more than the majority of her classmates, someone who can be a local rival, someone who asks her uncomfortable questions, I'm pretty open! In turn, if you want someone your character can adopt who will be a good team player and brutally honest, this little brat is for you.
Etc.: Can't believe someone said this like it's a bad thing
In fairness, Helga can also be a bit "much". Considering the nonsense she's had to deal with in-canon, she can stomach a surprising amount.
The point is, I'm totally open to seeing how her and Alastor get on (or don't). If you're ever concerned about certain subject matters coming up, you can run it by her Permissions post to see if it'd be a problem. I'm pretty flexible ^^
Oh, I'm well aware of her canon. XD Hey Arnold! was one of my favorites growing up which is why I was like "WANNA TAG WANNA TAG WANNA TAG". I used to have an Arnold journal once upon a time.
He won't go out of his way to traumatize her. He has a moral code he follows. It's just sometimes he really, really sucks at trying to be helpful when it comes to assuaging fears. (Like "Don't worry about falling! Worry about the noctaere flying overhead instead!") Or he might deliberately scare her to get her to stop doing something he sees as phenomenally stupid (like when he scared Mei to the point of passing out when she wanted him to teach her his magic which would've put her soul at risk).
I already know a few things about Al that he will be very careful not to expose her to if he can avoid it. Though other things he will be very obnoxious about. Like he values his personal space and considers your personal space as his personal space, making him a giant hypocrite about touching. If he finds something he does that doesn't terrify Helga but outright annoys her and gives him the best reactions (aka any he finds particularly entertaining), she'll become one of his favorites that he just has to annoy.
You list these traits of Alastor like that's a detriment for CR, but honestly I'm just sitting here thinking how much more fun that will make it. Really, I think they'll be great >:D
