ACTIVITY CHECK: JANUARY 2024

It's time for the monthly Activity Check!

In the Extra Notes section, please note if your character has done any of the following:

• Shard visions.
  
• People who absorbed nightmare energy and their current state.
  
• Noctaere encounters and how they went.
  
• Any shards eaten.
  
• Any odd feelings after?

Please refer to the Activity Check section in our Game Info page for complete details, but here is the quick list of what you need to know:

• Only threads dated from January 1st through January 31st will count. (Exception: certain backdated threads, TDM threads, read the sections for more details.)
  
  
• You must provide 2 threads of at least 5 comments each. The comment count is from your character. This means it must be some combination of 5+5. Not 6+4 or 2+8.
  
  
• Any thread counts, including those made within your own entries and subthreads within your own toplevels. Individual entry posts do not count.
  
  
• Continuation threads are considered as part of the previous thread so they count as one thread not two. Please link both separately so we don't get confused.
  
  
• Backdated threads can be counted so long as they 1) start in the previous month, 2) the majority of the comments are in the current AC month, and 3) were not used for the previous month.
  
  
• You are exempt from any checks for hiatuses that last for over 21 days. Anything less and you'll still need to submit your AC unless there are other circumstances.
  
  
• As a reminder to those who received a special free AC pass back in December 2023. If you plan to use it, unless there is an extreme personal emergency, we will not allow a hiatus exemption before or after the month of using the pass. This is so we don't get a weird case of { Hiatus > Free Pass } or { Free Pass > Hiatus } or { Hiatus > Free Pass > Hiatus } scenarios as that would effectively allow a player to skip two to three ACs in a row and we do not want that.

• Because we are a capped game, there is no strike system. If you do not make the AC requirements, you will be cut.

There will be no warnings. All submissions are due Wednesday, January 31st 11:59PM US Central.

BONUS INQUIRIES

This is not required and completely optional, but included in the AC submission form is a field to allow players to note any special incidents, encounters, or discoveries that occurred in their threads. So if a character found some creature or a location, you are welcome to include it so we can add it to the setting. You are also free to comment for other submissions on the World Directory.

You can also make quest requests to be included in the upcoming Dream Boards. If possible we'll add them immediately, otherwise we'll save them for the next Board. If you don't have one in mind, you can post it later to the upcoming Mod Announcement.

Extra Note:
- Thread ongoing. Cloud and Aerith are attempting to piece the Ice Queen's shards together, it tells a mosaic of her sense of longing and yearning for others after being left in isolation. The clearest one has her reaching out to someone they can't see.
- Thread is still ongoing, but Cloud will be hurt by the noctaere stalking the streets of Orkili. Joshua will soak up nightmare energy from it, causing it to retreat. Cloud claims he's all right but will feel phantom pain from the wound after it heals.

Joshua has officially absorbed nightmare energy from one noctaere encounter, with two more instances planned out for another noctaere encounter with Cloud and for purifying the Snow Queen's wounds with Anya

Two noctaere encounters with Eustace and Cloud; noctaere escaped both times (one planned, one already threaded out). During those encounters, it was hurt/weakened (the second one through Joshua purposefully absorbing some of it)

Odd feelings: not great! Nothing too specific other than a perpetual sense of unease and some chills every now and then

•<b>The Wild Harvest</b> will be closed for a week before opening back up, another new name on the memorial wall in the garden. The insides of the restaurant itself still filled with life and blankets for those colder days at each table. A few more candles are visible to provide that bit of extra light, even seeming to float a bit near the ceiling. There is also special note made on the menu about the continued serving of Dream-ade Lemonade and Dream Honeyshine. <a href="https://www.piesandtacos.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/heart-macarons-2-683x1024.jpg">Macarons</a> - Heart shaped macarons that come in large or small sizes and a variety of flavors to choose from; be it raspberry and chocolate for that sweet and tangy twist, or something like strawberries and cream for something sweet and light. Comes in an order for two or order for one. <a href="https://www.feedmi.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/HotPotatHome.jpeg">Hot Pot</a> - An at table set that comes with a choice of one or two broth flavors to have boiling at your table; broth flavors like spicy tomato and dashi, fish broth, and more. Simply note which one or two is wanted, along with what cuts of meat, veggies, noodles, mushrooms. Dumplings can also be added to this order. <a href="https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/sites/default/files/styles/featured_image/public/2021-10/sourdough-pizza-crust.jpg">Pizza</a> - Hand-tossed and handmade pizza that can be ordered with a number of different toppings. Wonderfully cheesy with fresh made sauce that balances that little bite of acidic sweetness of the tomato and mixes so well into a savory delight with cheese. Medium or large. <a href="https://www.dessertfortwo.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/How-to-Make-a-Milkshake-11-720x720.jpg">Milkshake</a> or <a href="https://images.heb.com/is/image/HEBGrocery/recipe-hm-large/chocolate-swirl-cola-float-recipe.jpg">Ice cream Float</a> - Both are created with ice cream made in house that are creamy and flavorful. Made to be shared with two easily, or just for one; tastes just as good either way. Can add candy bits or choose freshly baked brownies to be blended in with certain flavors of milkshake or have two flavors side-by-side in a single glass; topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The ice cream float also comes in a variety of ice cream flavors and a choice of either a flavored soda or root beer.

• Reaper and 76 pieced together a large shard that held the image of an outstretched hand with shattered ice and glass actively being broken and digging into the skin of said hand, even cutting through fabric. Some glass/ice shards filled with prismatic color and others black like an empty void. It was clear the hand belonged to the Ice Queen, her desperately reaching out for someone or something with fear in her eyes, even as the glass/ice shards dug into her as if following whoever/whatever through it, not wanting to lose whatever/whoever it was. As if falling after them.

• 76 absorbed a lot of nightmare energy, causing his own 'infection' he has existed with her for a long time to get worse. He is doing what he can to keep it from overwhelming him, even if what he knows to do is only temporary 'fixes'.

• While repairing the shard with Reaper a large Noctaere appeared and at some of the shards while actively repairing another; the mix of absorbed nightmare energy and this caused some manifestation of their own Noctaere to break free and attack the intruding one, buying them time to finish repairing the first. The still connected noctaere that manifested basically devoured and absorbed the large one piece by piece. More absorbed nightmare energy! Yay!

• A sense of being watched, and something missing even if he can still see nothing is. Physically, at least.

Extra Note: Prior to the January event, Anya offers to trade in a couple of rugs to Yato in exhcnage for the mirrors he wished to discard. Meanwhile she joins Joshua and Alastor in repairing the shards and purifying the Snow Queen’s wounds (her and Alastor’s log has a vision of the Snow Queen and Jack Frost having a nice day with each other in a winter wonderland while her and Joshua’s log is still in progress but it could be of a similar scene). She also volunteers to gather snow glitter in snow globes and got plenty of pantry ingredients and art & sewing supplies in return.

Extra Note: Isabela and Eustace work together to fix the shard pieces and they saw a memory of the Snow Queen and Jack Frost interacting at the balcony in a starlit night. She does get very worried and horrified when she sees the white rose Jack offers to the Queen in this memory turns dark/blacken, hinting to the Snow Queen’s unfortunate run in with the black shard and/or ever looming isolated state/loneliness.
