DREAM NOTES #37: SEPTEMBER 1, 2024
Hello everyone! This is officially Songerein's third anniversary and our last official Dream Notes post. We will have one last farewell mod post to officially declare everything is closed, but that won't be until the end of the month.
I want to once again thank everyone who has come through the game, especially all my current and former mod and think tank helpers. Without their help (and enabling) Songerein wouldn't have existed at all so they will always remain near and dear to me, just like all my other mod teams in my previous and current games. The game itself is one that came at a difficult time in my life, and it helped me get through those times while reliving a lot of nostalgia from my previous games, so Songerein will always remain in a special place in my heart as a love letter of sorts to that past.
I know this isn't how we all expected the game to end, but I am still happy to have seen it last these past three years and reach a proper ending. As you will soon see, while the game may close, the world itself will continue to exist and characters will be able to see each other, perhaps go on adventures, explore that dream realm further, or just, well, live out their dreams.
We do have one final event that will go up on Friday, September 6 and everyone is welcome to tag it. Just a fun little callback to the first event when the game opened: a large feast thrown by the fae with a lot of the old silliness.
Now to explain what exactly is happening to everyone!
BEYOND THE DREAM
Thanks to the efforts of everyone dealing with the chaos of the tethers, the nightmares, the worldscapes, and Berot Sau, the two dream goddesses, Sylvani and Nitiri, are able to provide the final push needed to stabilize the dreamotion and nightmare energies. There are still a few "kinks," however, so that while worlds remain isolated from one another, there are still times when the dream realms may mix and connect, creating odd experiences for dreamers.
And as for the connection to Songerein…
It now serves as an anchor for all dream worlds, which means it will permanently be accessible by dreamers of other worlds. Whether they notice this in their own dreams and follow the path to the world or be randomly pulled in, these new dreamers will find themselves in the world of Songerein where they can stay around or return as they will.
Yes, that is correct—one can now come and go into Songerein at will.
Whether they remember their experiences upon waking back in their original world is unclear…but dreams are dreams.
As for those who have been in Songerein all this time, they, too, can either choose to stay or leave freely with the knowledge that they are able to return. However, as a bonus of sorts, the mementos of their world will serve as an anchor, allowing them to not only stay in Songerein without fear of disappearing, but also be able to find their way to the dream world should they ever decide to return to their world for a spell. Their dream self will be able to continue to exist completely separate from their original self, and their original self will remain in their original world. Those who are dead in their worlds will also be able to remain in Songerein without issue.
This anchor also allows them to permanently exist within Songerein. Although they still retain their original dreamwalking abilities, they are no longer "creations" of pure dreamotion. They have a more corporeal form and are now more similar to the other fae and creatures that inhabit Songerein.
The ability to visit other worlds via dreams is also possible, though with some restrictions. To keep stability within the multiverse, no one can just drop into a world unannounced nor can they just enter the world like a world traveler. They are still limited to the dream realm, but they can at least meet and interact with others. Again, whether that person will fully remember the interaction upon waking will be questionable, but at least within the dreams, as long as they are left with a lasting impression, they will remember.
We hope this will offer everyone enough avenues for proper closure!
