Welcome to Songerein's CR Meme! A place where players can dump info on their characters and try to plot with others to continue existing or create new CR. We have a handy dandy form so go forth, tell us about yourself and your characters, and start plotting! You can refer to the Mod Announcement for plotting ideas for the month and beyond! Continuing or using things from the recent TDM.

Character: Merisia Thenel | likescaves
Canon: Shortly after the Waking Sands incident + Emp CRAU

About: An arcanist with a prickly outside but a soft and caring inside. Slow to trust others and quick to sass them as well, but generally well-meaning. Has a small vigilante streak and is still a thief at heart, so she's basically Robin Hood but grumpier when she's in the mood for a bit of pickpocketing or swiping. Also possesses the Echo, an ability which effectively lets her see the memories of others. She also comes with a bonus Carbuncle, a glowing fluffy squirrel-dog summon who is not only much friendlier than his summoner, but he also comes in both wind and earth elemental flavors! (Please do not eat him though)

Abilities: Merisia is an Arcanist (from the Heavensward era so she's got the old DoT kit), which basically means she's a mage that casts spells with geometry. Most of her spells focus on whittling down her target bit by bit. She also has a healing spell, though it's kind of weak compared to someone who actually specializes in healing.
- Her most notable spell involves summoning Carbuncle, who comes in two flavors: Emerald (wind), and Topaz (earth), though she's made a few more with help from dreamotion. Carbuncle has a very keen nose and can track scents, but he if he strays too far from Merisia he'll dissipate.
- On the more mundane side, Merisia is a fairly good seamstress and has keen hearing...although her eyesight isn't the best. She sees a little better in the dark than in broad daylight, but even then she has to squint to read.
- Merisia also possesses the Echo, which tl;dr allows her to see the memories of others. At literally any moment. Usually conveniently timed. She is NOT a fan of this AT ALL but it makes for interesting plots and threads. It's something I prefer to use sparingly, given how significant and intrusive the effect can be.
- As far as dreamotion goes, she's working on finding ways to use it to mimick thaumaturgy, her old style of magic. She's also using it to create new variants of Carbuncle as well as augment her existing magic with extra properties.
Dreamwalker Form: Usually, she's either a normal-sized Carbuncle or a mount-sized Carbuncle. She's not super happy about it, but she's gotten used to it. No, you may not pet her. Unless you're a close friend, then maybe.

Plans: She's still convinced that emotion-based magic, or the fact that normal magic can be altered by emotion in any way, just isn't a thing back home. For now. She's also going to be very wary of the Crystal Moon, given the calamity she went through back home. I'm also always open to her developing new Carbuncles with help from CR, and if a thread allows, Echo shenanigans are also always on the table c:
As for quests:
- Ice Cream Crush - Merisia isn't physically very strong and the sound of reshaping/repackaging things isn't up her alley either. However, she has a huge sweet tooth and can very easily be bribed.
- Choya Chop - Merisia is going to expect cactaurs. She is not going to get cactaurs. There's no way this will end well.

CR Dreams: Merisia can easily be the grumpy big sister friend if you let her. Just don't call her that; she has an image to maintain, after all! And she WILL fail to maintain it! Merisia tends to be a bit slow-burn with friendships, depending on the person, but once you've won her over she can be a loyal (albeit a little protective) friend. If there's anything she learned from her previous world, it's that maybe her insistence that she always be alone was a little off the mark.

I see the mention of a future council and begin to sweat nervously, fdskljsdf. I still think it would be a nice thing for Songerein to have, or at least have a meeting about, but I don't have the energy OOCly to spearhead such a thing so I'll just weep.

Seriously, there's no expiration on it. If it never happens, it never happens. It isn't something you should feel locked into.

I feel bad now, though, because I didn't mean to cause such a reaction.

Oh my gosh, no, I'm joking for the most part! Please don't feel bad!

I do genuinely feel a little conflicted that I don't have the time/energy for it, but maybe we can get someone else to put up a town meeting log and see if that gets the ball rolling for characters talking among themselves about it?

If time is an issue in putting something like that, I don't see why you and I can't bash our heads together and I can post something on that behalf for inhabitants to be able to discuss amongst themselves.

Maybe it could be a public forum of discussion, or something akin to. I don't think it'd necessarily need to require any intense running if it's just a sharing of opinions or insight.

Yujin and Beatrix have already been publicly open about what they were presenting for consideration, so I don't feel a direct need for either of them to repeat that. I'm sure there's a way we can do this without it being exhaustive or taxing being so early on in this idea.

Yes yes, I think once the post is up and we encourage a whole lot of mingling, it'll basically just run itself. It's just a matter of thinking up a 'body' for the post, with topics to discuss and... Probably some additional aesthetic flavoring like 'there is a table with drinks for everybody'. Can't have a town meeting without everyone holding onto a cup of coffee, right?

But on an OOC level we might need to look into what the requirements are for joining, what the council can or cannot do on an IC level, and how much it will do. Which can be tweaked based on what comes out of the town meeting, of course.

Muahaha, another victim for the sad little memory witch to collect as part of her found family-- I MEAN. I'm certainly game to find out! I admit I've been slightly avoiding interacting with FFXIV characters because I got too busy to play late into Heavensward, BUT at this point I have to accept that I'm probably going to keep not having time to pick it up again, so spoilers for furthe expansions are sort of irrelevant. c': I shall happily accept such CR, in any case!

Absolutely. Found family is such a wonderful thing. That is 120% valid! I am more than happy to refrain from doing any spoilers I can. It might be a little hard with him, but I don't want to spoil anything if it's possible. (Although I sort of did already I'm sorry.) The only relevant spoiler I'll say until told otherwise (mostly because I kind of already did whoops), is that he actually ends up basically adopting a child so he's already sort of on his way to pickup wayward teens rofl.

That's quite alright! It's been a long time, it's to be expected that people wouldn't think anything of spoilers at this point. I also realize based on what little I /have/ seen or heard about that it might be difficult to avoid them here, so don't worry! Feel free to spoil as necessary if they're tough to get around. c: Maybe it'll finally encourage me to at least watch some things.
