Player Event: "Imbalance" Info & Plotting
Ollo, Songerein! Happy (almost) September! For the new folks coming in soon, I'm Ami or Donut! Either one works, it's fine. Got a player plot dreamscape idea cooked up, so I'm going to go ahead and unleash it upon the masses. Let's get started with the context and follow with the details:
Madhuri has been working on her dreamwalking abilities for a while, and has discovered that- if she can recite a song she'd heard via her Echo- she gains a magical girl costume of that particular opponent she had faced as well as a facsimile of their elemental powers to aid her depending on the situation.
Recently, she has been dreaming of a strange palace and a strange song... one that she feels compelled to try out and see what happens.
The problem is thus: Not only is Nald'thal, the subject of the tune, a major deity as opposed to the minor primals she'd defeated before, but they are twin gods representing a balance, keepers of the realm of both the living and the dead. How does a girl dress as two at once?
Simply put, she can't. The result is a dreamscape resembling a sprawling ancient temple lit by red-gold sunset, lined with torches of orange and blue. Crystal lanterns all through Reverein will glow and draw dreamers in (if you'd like to participate, of course).
What's the catch? Gimme the gimmick.
Dreamers brought into the dreamscape can be split into two, becoming two individuals holding half of their personality. For example, someone that has been split can have one of them bearing all their positive personality traits while the other bears all their negative. Two halves of a whole. Or, if you're nasty, one can be how they are publicly, and the other can be something akin to a shadow, of traits they aim to keep to themselves or deny.
In short, you can easily treat this as a soft Shadow event, for you Persona kids out there. The appearance of each half of your character and what personality traits reside in which is entirely up to you.
To fix the problem and restore a character in full, dreamotion is key. Positivity, acceptance or simply kicking their butt to show you care is enough to have two halves combine and become the whole person again.
This dreamscape will occur over the course of one in-game night on September 10th, when the log will go up, to facilitate lots of time to plot out or finish threads by month's end. This is a fabulous opportunity for new friends to reveal their uglier or even softer sides, or for one to face their inner demons.
Any questions? Feel free to leave them beneath the handy-dandy "Questions" toplevel within and I'll answer as quick as I can. Otherwise, feel free to use this entry to organize plots.

Questions?
Madhuri, your gracious Hostess(es)
Madhuri A is the homemaking, friendly, passive half. She'll be in black and white, and excessively retro 1950's in style. She'll make sure you're happy and be terribly cheery. When it comes to confrontation she will actively avoid it and opt for jokes and puns instead. She won't even fight back. If you want a personal cheerleader to help you face your
shadowother half or help find who you're missing, she's the one to rah-rah-rah and get to hunting! In some circumstances, however, you may find this one cowering behind something, if someone who approaches reminds her of... s o m e t h i n g.Madhuri B is... feral and has no filter. All of her deeper passions, be it her determination, her love of her people and culture, or in more personal matters, it all went into this half. She's rather scantily-clad, brash, and is actively looking for a fight. Or to flirt. Or to REALLY let you know what's on her mind about you. She bites and you'll thank her for it.
I'm open for either side helping to find lost halves or other friends and helping with confrontations (A and B have their own definitions of 'help', obviously).
Hi so I very definitely go here and I have IDEAS
For those unfamiliar with Persona 5 Royal:
There's going to be a sort of blanket content warning for major P5R spoilers, self-destructive tendencies bordering on self-harm, existential despair, and probably way too much death.
Technically Persona-wielders aren't supposed to have Shadows...
But they're not supposed to have Palaces, either, nor are they supposed to have multiple 'starting' Personas, we breakin all the rules here-
Anyway, come on down, experience the horror of two Goro Akechis in one place
and recall what happens when people confront their shadowsYou just got wrecked! ...I mean, Rob
So there is Seasons 1-early 3 Rob who is a friendly junior high school student. Also a tall lanky cyclops but still! Kind of sticks to the background but will still be part of groups and wants to have fun. He can get mad if you completely forget his name though.
Then there is villain Rob whose body is totally messed up after some surprisingly awful crap for a kid's animated sitcom. I think I will have him specifically be in his Dr. Wrecker persona from Season 4, where he tries to be a more classic supervillain-type. Also his voice is completely different while he uses this name as per the show, played by the late David Warner. Gumball changed it with their TV remote. Set it to English for the accent, you know.
This may be a good opportunity for anybody who's met Rob and wondered about his backstory to find out. Especially since he hasn't dreamwalked much so most people haven't seen his original body yet. Or if you want to meet Rob and realize how much baggage he has!
I am not sure about how I'd like to have it resolved either, so please plot with me~
It's time for round two. (Shadowbringers and Endwalker Spoilers)
The catch, of course, would be that the half of him which reflects his usual and more widely-known appearance in Reverein is actually his not-so-nice half. That's an understatement.
Spoiler-heavy, but my general idea would be to have Emet-Selch realize and confront the fact that he's quite literally become the sort of person he would have utterly detested some short millennia ago. Whether any character growth will come of this is anyone's guess, but it will definitely be a sight to see. I've also received permission from Hayley and Gen to delve into Sundering and Final Days themes as needed.
Emet-Selch A will reflect Emet-Selch as he was before the Sundering in both appearance and personality. Still much the same: grumpy, stern, a textbook "tsundere", but overall a decent enough sort with the dignity to do the right thing for the greater good of creation despite his grumblings about it. The kind of person claimed to have leant his aid to people near and far. He takes his duty quite seriously and has no small amount of curiosity about magicks and abilities he's never seen before. This Emet-Selch will be able to provide additional information about the myths and legends surrounding the Twelve as well as those who worship them.
Emet-Selch B, on the other hand, is the man you know but far worse; the kiddie gloves are off. He looks the same as always, if perhaps exuding an aura of unmistakable danger. This half would lean heavily into his single-minded goal to rejoin the world, looking down on all other lifeforms as inferior and incapable of reaching the heights of Ancient civilization, boiling in resentment over all he has lost. Cunning, ruthless, larger-than-life - willing to raze empires and manipulate the twisted and the innocent alike if it will further his own ambitions. It isn't so much about sentimentality anymore, it's about success - he's been at this for far too long and any means will justify the end result. A "megalomaniacal madman" indeed, deaf to his own morals and his better emotions which have all but been sealed away. Still, he might as well at least make this descent into calamity fun.
When both halves of you kind of have issues...
and have shit confronted about him that he either tries to hide or downplay or not pay any attention to because there are no therapists in The World Unsundered.Hythlodaeus A will be dressed in full Amaurotine regalia, robes and mask on, hood up, etc. This Hythlodaeus believes in you and wants you to succeed, and will do whatever he can to see you through, even if it means putting himself in mortal danger or sacrificing his happiness for your own. Unfortunately, he doesn't have much confidence in his ability to provide aid beyond said support, and you may find him frequently apologizing for his shortcomings. You can do it! He can't.
Hythlodaeus B, meanwhile, can be found wearing something one would more likely see in Reverein and is more representative of his selfish side. He'll be perfectly cordial to you, as well as happy to follow along if he finds you interesting, but aside from the occasional poke and prod to see how your character reacts or questions about who they're trying to find in this dreamscape, interactions may run surface-level at best. Unless, of course, you're considered a friend/fall more on the friend side than the acquaintance side. Then he will move heaven and earth to see to it that your desires are fulfilled, for you are the only ones that matter in the world. This Hythlodaeus will help you hide the bodies. And never question why there are bodies there to begin with.
no subject
Dante A is, at first, your typical Dante encounter. A cocky showboat who likes putting on a show and looking cool in front of people. He wants attention, he wants praise, he wants company, he wants to pretend there's nothing wrong because talking about it means admitting there's a problem. He's gonna look like he lost several fights in a row, between bruises, cuts and a curious heart-shaped hole in his chest where his heart should be. He'll resent being told what he's doing is soulless or anything similar, but failing because of that will remind him of his brother and clue in this half that he needs the other.
Dante B, on the other hand, is a soft boy who can't lie to save his life. He has a dorky laugh, he's awkward around people, but also incredibly paranoid. As much as he wants to be around others, offer his undivided attention and let his guard down, there's always something to break the moment for him and convince him to leave. He's being hunted, he'll insist, and try to break the interaction with leading his pursuers away while others make a break for it. He won't mind being miserable if no one gets hurt because of him. Stubbornly refusing to leave or getting through to that big heart of his will convince him to not run away so easily, to piece himself back together so he can take on his pursuers a reason to fight back.
The two halves will try and avoid each other, but the occasions they meet can also be a point to drop in on. They can try to help others as much as they can offer a good fight scene, with A letting people give him a reality check and B needing to be told to stop being dumb in an emotional fashion. Dreamotion abilities of any kind will tear through them, in that case.
Sliding in late so I have a reference point to link people to!
This is a perfect plot for Sumire to get involved in - for those unaware, she spends almost an entire year believing herself to be her older sister Kasumi, who actually died in an accident shortly before the events of the game begin. She blames the accident on herself, but even before that she was depressed and miserable, seeing her sister as better and more talented than herself, always feeling like she was in her shadow. While she was "Kasumi" during the events of the game, she had a lot more confidence in herself, but later once the two parts of her personality come together, she's able to reconcile her truth and becomes a more stable individual overall.
While the game events have her go through the experience of handling this - with the help of the others - I think it will be interesting to split her in two again for the event just to see how she'll handle it! However, I'm putting myself into this very late, PLUS I want her to be able to help Akechi with his less-than-quarter-life-crisis, so based on her character growth, I'm also comfortable having her put herself back together if needed at the end of it all. It won't be too hard.
Either way, there will be two distinct people during this event:
The personality of Kasumi is friendly, cheerful, outgoing, extroverted. She is confident and forthright, while being polite, and is determined to get to the bottom of what is going on so that she can help her sister/herself. (Please note that she will recognize in this personality that she is still Sumire; I'm just calling her Kasumi for the sake of splitting them in some way.)
On the other hand, the personality of Sumire will be the harder one to deal with - and probably quite trigger-heavy. This version will be introverted, shy, and intensely depressed, with an inferiority complex the size of a planet. She will not see the point in trying to fix the situation, believing that if she disappears entirely, it will be better for both girls.
One more note: while Sumire's dreamscape self usually has her wearing her Metaverse outfit, despite the lack of her canonical ability to call her Persona in this space, neither of the girls will be wearing it!
I'm totally down for anyone interacting with both girls or either, and would love to make some new CR or strengthen CR made through the TDM with this!
Latest!
Kaiba is going with a straight split into a negative side and a positive side. Heh- as some of you may know... his negative attributes tend to outweigh his positive ones and that will be reflected in how he is perceived in the two different forms.
Kaiba A - This version will seem much like the usual Kaiba only more unhinged, aggressive, and sadistic. Essentially the person Kaiba could have become had there not been outside influences to curtail this. All he's focused on is himself, and he doesn't care who he has to crush to succeed, and will delight in other's misfortunes. Also, he'll dress like a weirdo in all white with this red cape with fur trim.
Santa Claus called and he wants Kaiba to stop taking fashion tips from him. Example. Let's just call him Kaiba for simplicity's sake.Kaiba B - The positive side of Kaiba will take the form of how he was as a small child. He'll be more approachable, and embodies the protective and loyal side of his personality. The one that was more focused on being a big brother and less focused on world domination. As an added bonus he will be lacking the apprehension he was starting to feel towards adults since he left all that paranoia with his crazy quilt side. Example. We'll just call him Seto.
Also, at some "Kaiba" will be on the warpath specifically to eradicate "Seto", so that should be fun!
Once this is all said and done, Seto Kaiba, in his entirety is going to be so drained and feeling like an imbecile for falling into a trap he needed help getting out of. Also it's going to make him examine the darker aspects of himself that are still locked away inside.
